Rhythmic Harmony Collaboration with Udu Drum and Flute
Learning to drum for any beginner or experienced drum student, curiosity is the flame to creativity! There are so many beautiful world percussion instruments to light the fire for self-expression and rhythmical exploration.
Mesmerizing sounds and rhythms of the Udu drum
Today let’s explore the beautiful Udu drum also known as the Udu pot made from clay. The exact origins of the Udu drum are somewhat shrouded in history, but it is generally believed to have its roots in ancient Nigeria. It was initially created as a functional, utilitarian object used for carrying and storing water and grains.
The Udu drum has deep cultural and spiritual significance in many Nigerian communities, particularly among the Igbo people. It is used in various traditional ceremonies, rituals, and celebrations. The instrument's sounds are often associated with earthy, natural elements, and it has been used to accompany dances, storytelling, and religious ceremonies.
A drum like this could also be used in sound healing sessions, as the sounds of the Udu has the earth element of water. Such a lovely sounding drum for any drum student looking to add a variety of percussive sounds to their playing or drum circle facilitators wanting to include the earth elements in their drum circle therapeutic workshops.
With my online coaching I encourage students to listen to a variety of music and world percussion instruments to increase listening skills, music structure of melody, harmony and rhythm. These healing elements of music are vital for knowledge so we can experience the healing benefits of music.
Remember music is a language, the more we learn about the healing elements of music and world rhythms the more vocabulary we have for self-expression, spirituality, and wellbeing.
What is 432HZ?
432 Hz is a specific frequency is referred to harmonic intonation of nature. It promotes relaxation, balance, and harmony in the body and mind. While most Western music is tuned to A440 Hz as its standard pitch, proponents of alternative tuning systems believe that A432 Hz offers a more soothing and resonant experience.
This belief is rooted in the that 432 Hz is in alignment with the natural vibrations of the universe, and it may have a more profound impact on human consciousness. Sound healers and practitioners use instruments tuned to 432 Hz, such as singing bowls, tuning forks, and native American style flutes, to create music and tones that have a calming and healing effect.
Many individuals find this frequency to be a valuable tool for relaxation and meditation, helping to facilitate a sense of wellbeing, harmony and balance.
Sweet melodies of the sound healing native American style flute
This beautiful tuned 432 Hz sound healing native American style flute that I play with the Udu drum, hamonise so beautifully together. Notice the roundness of the water sound and striking percussion rhythmical sounds from the Udu as the flute sings with a beautiful warm timbre and pitch? The timbre of both keep out of each other’s way, making that lovely rhythmic and melodic connection.
This particular sound healing flute can be played in therapeutic sound baths creating a harmony and connection between the heart chakra and third eye chakra.
Sound healing instruments inspire us to connect with our self and others in a deep unique way harmonises the body and spirit, promoting relaxation, stress reduction, and overall well-being.
